Judicial Experience: Marion Superior Court, Juvenile Division Judgem March 22, 2005 until present ( was appointed by Governor Mitch Daniels in March, 2005 to fill the unexpired term of Marion Superior Court, Juvenile Division Judge James W. Payne). Prior to being appointed to the bench, Judge Moores was a partner in the law firm of COHEN & MALAD, LLP, a litigation firm in downtown
Significant Legal Accomplishments: Judge Moores serves as the Lead Judge, Marion County Model Court of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Law Judges (2005 to present) as well as a member, Juvenile Justice Improvement Committee (2005 to present); Additionally, as a Judge Advocate in the Indiana Army National Guard since 1985, Judge Moores has trained numerous commanders in military justice matters and conducted numerous summary and special courts-martial. Judge Moores served as Vice President, Indianapolis Bar Association (1997) and has been a continuous member of IBA since 1981.
Other Legal Involvement: From 1995-1999, Judge Moores served as an At-Large member of the Indianapolis City-County Council, where she learned the budget and fiscal process of government. Drafted, lobbied for and saw enacted P.L. 91-2006, regulating and licensing charity gaming.
Additionally, as a Judge Advocate in the Indiana Army National Guard since 1985, Judge Moores has trained numerous commanders in military justice matters and conducted numerous summary and special courts-martial. From 1995-1999, Judge Moores served as an At-Large member of the Indianapolis City-County Council, where she learned the budget and fiscal process of government.
Personal Statement: I believe from my more than 25 years of the practice of law, I have brought the efficiencies and work ethic of private practice, along with a public service zeal and dedication and a personal compassionate heart, to the juvenile bench, all of which is making Juvenile Court a better place for kids and families.
