Personal
Statement:
Over the past thirty years, as an attorney and member of the
judiciary, I have strived to improve access to the courts and efficiency in the
court’s administration. I understand and appreciate the needs and time
restraints on attorneys as they represent their clients in court. As someone
who has served the Marion County judiciary in a number of capacities, I also
recognize that as a judge we serve as stewards of a valuable and limited
resource. The efficient operation of the court system impacts the community in
a variety of ways. From the number of beds required in the local jails, to the
resources available for the treatment of the mentally ill, and to the prompt
resolution of everyday litigation between private individuals, a proper and
efficiently run court system is important not only to the bar but all citizens
of Marion County. As an elected official, I have attempted to maintain a
balance between the needs of the local bar and those of the community.
