Appointed by Governor Daniels to Marion County Superior Court, Juvenile Division, March 2005. Re-elected, 2009. Member of Juvenile Justice Improvement Committee, 2005-2013. Lead Judge, National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, Senior Model Court. Judge, Marion County Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative.

Significant Legal Accomplishments:
Assistant Corporation Counsel, City of Indianapolis 1981-1989. Associate, Cohen & Malad, P.C., 1989-2002. Partner, Cohen & Malad, LLP, 2002-2005. Member, Indianapolis Bar Association, 1981- present, past Vice President. Admitted to practice in bars of Indiana, 7th Circuit Court of Appeals and United States Supreme Court.

Other Legal Involvement:
Staff Judge Advocate, Indiana Army National Guard, 1985-present. Currently, State Staff Judge Advocate. Indianapolis-Marion County City-County Council, At Large, 1994-1998.

Personal Statement:
In my tenure as the Marion County Juvenile Court Judge, I have striven to ensure, fairness and an even playing field for all. I have implemented the usage of evidence- based and promising practices to assist the neediest families in our community.  I have striven to make Juvenile Court a lawyer-friendly and litigant-friendly atmosphere that utilizes a private practice work ethic and efficiency. We are now considered a national model by many jurisdictions that come to our court to observe and learn.
